The Dodge
experience is all about grabbing the symbolic ram by the horns. The Dodge
emblem has changed a few times since the Dodge brothers, Horace and John,
founded the company in 1900. The ram represents the spirit and energy of life
itself, hence its resurrection from the earlier decades. What started out as an
auto parts business grew into one of the most popular car brands in the
country. The company fell on hard times some time after the Dodge brothers’
demise, but it was rescued by Walter Chrysler himself. Dodge has remained in
the Chrysler stables ever since.
Major Dodge Milestones:
1983 – Dodge introduced the groundbreaking Caravan, which launched the concept of the minivan.
1992 – Dodge introduced the Viper, which featured Lamborghini technology in an otherwise classic American sports car.
2008 – Dodge had its 200th career victory in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as a manufacturer.
Interesting Dodge Fact:
The Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety states that the Dodge is the best pick among
police vehicles for frontal impact. Compared with the Ford and the Chevy, the
Dodge fared much better in police vehicle tests done by the Tulsa Police
Department. Besides the safety factor provided by the Dodge Stability Control,
it also achieved better gas mileage than the Ford and offered better ergonomics
and interior space than the Chevy.
