Started in 1985 as a car brand under General Motors, Saturn was created
in response to the influx of Japanese and European small-car imports. It has
gone through a variety of slogans with "A Different Kind of Company, A
Different Kind of Car" as the first one. It aimed to emphasize quality
control and high product reliability. Saturn has two sub-lines of vehicles: the
Red Line represents cars which are performance-oriented while the Green Line represents
cars which are more environment-friendly. The company is famous for its strict
“no haggling policy”, selling each car at the exact price it was originally
given. Saturn has also been known to show customer appreciation by organizing
homecoming dinners and other similar events that enable customers to mingle
with each other.
Major Saturn Milestones:
1993 – Saturn announced its first profitable year.
2006 – Saturn became a division of General Motors.
2008 - The Saturn VUE crossover SUV was recognized at the 2008 Auto Pacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSAs).
Interesting Saturn Fact:
Contrary to popular belief and despite the image in its logo, Saturn was
not named for the planet but for the Saturn rocket that took American
astronauts to the moon.
