Sterling Trucks is a subsidiary of Freightliner LLC in Portland, Oregon.
This company manufactures highly engineered, heavy trucks which are sold in the
United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. Although their
headquarters are located in Detroit, MI, their conventional trucks are built in
St. Thomas, Ontario. Sterling has built a reputation for offering the most
rugged and practical trucks on the market. Their trucks are known for being
solid machines packed with reliability and durability.
Major Sterling Milestones:
1953 – Sterling was bought by White Motor Co. Ca.
1997 – Sterling, which used to be an original division for heavy trucks of Ford Motor Company, was purchased and rebranded this year by Freightliner.
2008 – The Sterling® Set-Back 113-inch BBC A-Line was produced making it the 250,000th truck that Sterling has made.
Interesting Sterling Fact:
Sterling also produces vocational trucks. These are trucks designed to
do more than just heavy hauling. Examples of these are garbage trucks, fire
trucks, tanker trucks, etc.
